FBA enables sellers to send products to Amazon warehouses, then Amazon handles the packing, shipping and customer service. This leaves the seller free to focus on finding and promoting new products, building a brand and growing their business.
Amazon has multiple fulfillment centers in Canada and the U.S., so it’s easy to send products to them. They also have centers in Europe, Latin America and even India, which is great for international sellers.
There are two ways that you can get your product onto Amazon FBA — either through Amazon Vendor Central or Seller Central.
What is Amazon FBA?
Amazon FBA is a fulfillment service offered by Amazon that allows third-party sellers to easily list and sell their products on Amazon’s website. When a seller enrolls in the program, Amazon will store the seller’s inventory in one of its warehouses. Then, when an order is placed, Amazon will pick and pack your order, and ship it out via one of its carrier partners (UPS, USPS or FedEx).

Amazon’s FBA program allows you to scale your business on an enormous platform with virtually no logistical barriers. Now that we’ve explained what it is, let’s look at how it works:
Once a merchant sells inventory on Amazon’s marketplace and receives an order, they’re responsible for shipping the product directly to the customer. This is called “merchant fulfilled” or MFN (merchant fulfilled network). Merchants are responsible for managing their own inventory as well as shipping costs.
Alternatively, merchants can set up their items to be sold through FBA by sending some or all of their inventory to Amazon. Once an item is sold using FBA, the merchant sends their inventory to one of Amazon’s warehouses where it is stored until a customer place an order

1. The Early Days:
Amazon was founded by Jeff Bezos in a garage in 1994, when the internet was still in its infancy. Bezos had a vision for an online bookstore that would offer millions of titles from all over the world. By 1995, Amazon’s website had launched and sales were underway.
2. Amazon Rises:1997 was an important year for Amazon; it marked the company’s first IPO, which raised $54 million to fund further growth. The next year, Amazon began their expansion into other product categories, like toys and electronics.
3. Fulfillment by Amazon Is Born:
Fast forward to 2006 and Fulfillment by Amazon is born! Initially, sellers could send products to an Amazon warehouse and they would list the items on the website, but they still had to package and ship orders themselves. It wasn’t until 2008 that FBA started handling those last two steps for sellers as well — pick & pack and shipping — creating a truly hands-off fulfillment process for third-party sellers on the marketplace website.
From 2010 through today, FBA has continued to grow significantly due to its ability to help sellers scale their businesses by overcoming many of the logistical challenges.
